The main benefit behind wired charging is that it prioritises speed for the user – wired charging takes less time to fully charge a phone’s battery than that of a wireless charging pad, and depending on the quality of the cable the phone can continue to be used whilst it’s charging!

- It’s always a benefit to take for travel, since cables can always be compacted and put into a small carrying bag – wireless charging docks are more solid and can take up more space.
- Most cables can also be used for faster file transfers – should anyone wish to quickly move files from their phone to their computer, they can connect the two devices through a cable.
- Public places also offer access to wired charging too! USB ports and plugs are often built into chairs inside cafés, and there are charging stations made available for us to use.

Wired charging is brilliant for having faster charging speeds and is great for travel and holidays, but it can potentially cause wear and tear on a phone’s charging port. The cable can also bend/kink if improperly used, which can interfere with the charging speed.
