Water Damage & Phones
Water , or to be more precise, liquid damage can cause problems with the internal circuitry of your phone or other device that can leave them unusable.
If your phone gets wet the first thing you will want to do is turn it on - DON'T!
The second thing you'll feel the need to do is charge it - DON'T do that either!
Both of these actions can potentially make things worse for iPhone, smartphone or tablet.
Here's what to do with water damage - dry your device off and if you are able pop it in a bag or box of normal rice - yes that's right - Uncle Ben's will do nicely!
(We suggest rice as it's probably the most accessible material around your that will do the job)
Once you have your iPhone or whatever safely wrapped up in rice the next thing to do is contact us using the form here or giving us a call and we'll advise on next steps based on what the specifics of your phones dunking are.
Usually we would suggest leaving it exactly where it is for 48 hours and then getting it to us so we can see what can be done.
Usually with water damage we'll need it a minimum of 72 hours and we'll keep you up to date with how things are progressing during that time.
We do get phones and tablets in that 'just stopped working' which, once we've run diagnostics are classified as 'liquid damage' despite having never been wet.
It's worth bearing in mind that not all devices are created equal - some phones will get a good dunking and be fine - others (the same model even!) will be used in a steamy bathroom and fail from 'liquid damage!
Our technicians can offer advice on the best next steps with a liquid damaged phone but it's worth bearing in mind that liquid damaged phones and gadgets is not an exact science!
